Today, James Cumming, Federal Conservative Shadow Minister for Small Business and Export Promotion kicked off a series of small business roundtables to mark Red Tape Awareness Week.
Cumming said Liberal policies have driven investment out of the country and made it harder for entrepreneurs to get ahead.
“Justin Trudeau attacked small business owners and accused them of being tax cheats. The Liberals hiked payroll taxes, tried to tax employee discounts, imposed a carbon tax that makes gas and heating more expensive, and added burdensome new regulations that make it harder for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and hire new workers.”
Since Trudeau became prime minister there are 4,300 more regulations on federal books bringing the total to 136,000 in 2019, according to the Montreal Economic Institute.
