Criminal defence lawyer Ari Goldkind said in response to this verdict that the government could have avoided all of this by inserting one line into their legislation spelling out clearly where and when the law applied but they failed to do so.
“Sheer neglect and sheer stupidity have caused this action,” Goldkind said.
The long-time lawyer said there was no need for the government to change the law on jury selection but they did so after reading too much outrage online.
“This is a government that conducts itself catering to Twitter,” Goldkind said.
