What is up with Peter MacKay? The CPC leadership hopeful may have plans to attend Toronto’s Pride parade, but it’s hard to believe he is proud of his performance leading up to another wild June affair: the leadership race for the Conservative Party of Canada.

As a drag queen on the hit TV show, RuPaul’s Drag Race might say, MacKay is not exactly “slaying” the competition. He is, rather, stumbling his way through it.

I’m not referring to the politician’s smooth jazz infused video ads (which, for the record, I find very relaxing), nor to his subpar French. The latter is a problem, no doubt, but also a sunk cost; i.e. it’s a little late in the leadership game for MacKay to master another language. I’m referring instead to the candidate’s ill-advised tweet about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and the disastrous TV interview that followed.
