We need a better way. Here in Alberta – this is going to devastate so many people in my community – the mental health impact, continued unemployment….The uncertainty and roller coaster of restrictions can’t continue without a clear, safe, path forward.

On Monday, the Conservatives tabled an entirely reasonable motion in the House of Commons “call(ing) on the government to table within 20 calendar days a clear data-driven plan to support safely, gradually and permanently lifting COVID-19 restrictions.” (Note here the verb “to support.”) The motion cited the “serious economic and mental health impacts” that everyone agrees these restrictions have inflicted — whether or not they consider them to have been necessary — and the fact that other countries are well ahead of us on this front.
